► (n. 1947) Cantante, compositor y actor británico. Es considerado el rey del glam-rock debido a la calidad de su música, a su estética extravagante y a su estilo provocador. Influido por el movimiento punk y los ambientes gay, se inició en 1969 con "Space Oddity". También es compositor de bandas sonoras.

Cantante de rock británico. A mediados de la década de 1960 cantó con numerosas bandas en Londres, su ciudad natal. En 1966 cambió su nombre para evitar que se confundiera con el del cantante principal del grupo The Monkees. Su primer éxito grabado "Space Oddity (1969) y álbumes como The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars (1972) se ubicaron en la corriente del glam rock, marcado por la teatralidad y la androginia. Su estilo varió ampliamente, desde el romanticismo "disco de Young Americans (1975) pasando por la austeridad vanguardista de Low (1977), hasta el pop convencional de Let's Dance (1983). Bowie también actuó en obras de teatro y en películas como The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976). Siguió grabando y actuando en el s. XXI.
